PHILADELPHIA (CBS) -- CBS 3 and The CW Philly 57 launch the stations' 23rd annual Joy of Sharing toy campaign benefiting the Salvation Army. Eyewitness News Anchors Chris May and Susan Barnett are requesting new, unwrapped toys for local children through public service announcements airing on both stations Friday through Monday, December 19th when the stations wrap up the toy drive with a five hour on-air fundraiser (3-8 p.m.).
For the first time, all five of the CBS Radio stations in the market – KYW Newsradio 1060, 98.1 WOGL, SportsRadio 94 WIP, SportsRadio 610 WIP and Talk Radio 1210AM WPHT – are joining the campaign by collecting toys at their studios, participating in toy campaign events and promoting the drive on-air. On-air personalities Ross Brittain of 98.1 WOGL, Chris Stigall of Talk Radio 1210 AM and SportsRadio 94 WIP's Anthony Gargano and Glen Macnow will also be featured in TV spots soliciting toy donations.
Toys will be collected at numerous locations throughout the Delaware Valley including these special events -- the Rittenhouse Square Tree Lighting Ceremony in Philadelphia hosted by Meteorologist Kathy Orr, Tuesday, November 29 (tree lighting at 5 p.m.) and the Narberth Dickens Festival featuring KYW Newsradio's Kidcast Mobile Studio on Saturday, December 10th (Noon to 4 p.m.). In addition, Traffic Reporter Bob Kelly will urge those stopping by his Holiday Lights neighborhood tours to bring along a toy.
