2015 Holiday Lighting Ceremonies In The Philadelphia Area

Here is a list of some of the area's holiday lighting events and ceremonies this year. Be sure to check back as events will be added as they are announced.

PENNSYLVANIA

Peddler's Village Grand Illumination

Date: Friday, Nov. 20; 6 - 9 p.m.

Santa and Mrs. Claus will switch on the Christmas lights at 6:15 p.m. during the Peddler's Village Grand Illumination. Enjoy complimentary cider and roasted marshmallows as local musicians and school choirs perform throughout the evening.

Chestnut Hill will celebrate its annual tree-lighting ceremony on Saturday, Nov. 21.  Hot chocolate and cookies will be offered, and those attending are welcomed to bring a new, unwrapped toy to donate.

Children and families from around the region are invited to join the Christmas Village in Philadelphia's first-ever Lantern Parade and Tree Lighting on Friday, Dec. 4. Children's carolers from Walnut Street Theatre will lead the parade. Philly Pops Festival Brass Quintet will perform holiday favorites and set the perfect backdrop for the lighting of the tree at 6:20 p.m. After the ceremony, Christmas Village remains open until 8 p.m. Look out for the Toy Mobile where guests are welcome to bring a new, unwrapped toy to donate for CBS 3's Toy Fest.

The annual Christmas tree lighting festival in Quakertown will be held on Friday, Dec 4. Santa will arrive by firetruck at 7 p.m. The festival will also include live alpacas, strolling carolers and vendors.

South Street Headhouse District presents their annual extravaganza Winter Wonderland on Sunday, Dec. 6. Free fun for the entire family will include Santa arriving on a firetruck, free horse-drawn carriage rides, music and dance performances, the Headhouse Holiday Market and the annual holiday tree lighting at 6:15 p.m. New for 2015, look for a special lighting of a Hanukkah Menorah.

Before or after the festivities, stroll the district and check out holiday displays at more than 30 businesses competing in the Window Wonderland Storefront Challenge. Winter Wonderland is free and open to the public. Look out for the Toy Mobile where guests are welcome to bring a new, unwrapped toy to donate for CBS 3's Toy Fest.

Upper Darby Township officials will host its annual tree lighting concert on Monday, Dec. 7, at the Tower Theater on 69th Street. The program will begin with a free concert at 6:30 p.m. followed by the official tree lighting ceremony at 7 p.m.

NEW JERSEY

Date: Friday, Nov. 27; 6 p.m.

Kick off the holiday season in Sea Isle City with an array of events.  A Christmas Parade begins at 6 p.m. along JFK Boulevard and culminates at Excursion Park. The Mayor's Tree Lighting Ceremony and Santa's Arrival takes place at 7 p.m. at Excursion Park.  Guests can also enjoy ice skating from 4 – 9 p.m., free entertainment from 5 – 6p.m. and roasted chestnuts and hot chocolate will be available.

The Haddonfield Holiday Tree tree-lighting ceremony at Library Point will be held on Friday, Nov. 27. The ceremony will be followed by a parade featuring Santa to Kings Court. Horse-drawn carriage rides will be available from 6 – 9 p.m. and the event will also feature musical performances throughout the evening.

The Borough will also kick off the holiday season earlier that evening with Small Business Weekend and Candlelight Shopping starting at 6 p.m.

The City of Camden will host its annual Holiday Tree Lighting Ceremony on Thursday, Dec. 3 in Roosevelt Plaza Park, directly in front of City Hall. Carolers will be performing festive tunes, and free hot cocoa will be available for all who attend. Free parking is available adjacent to City Hall.

Ring in the holiday season at Mount Holly's annual Holiday Tree Lighting Ceremony and Parade on Friday, Dec. 4 in the township's downtown district. The family-friendly event is free and open to the public. The township's downtown area will be transformed into a Winter Wonderland, with beautiful decorations to help get folks into the holiday spirit. The holiday parade will kick-off the evening's festivities. Following the parade, children will have the opportunity to see Santa help light the township's Holiday tree, located at the intersection of Washington and High Streets, with more than 3,000 lights. The ceremony will also feature live music, and light refreshments will be offered to all those who attend.

The Somers Point Holiday Parade will take place on Friday, Dec. 4 starting at 6:30 p.m. The parade begins at Dawes Avenue and continues along Shore Road to City Hall, 1 West New Jersey Avenue, where a Tree Lighting Ceremony will take place and complimentary refreshments and goodies for children will be served. Santa will also meet with children to take pictures and give out treats.

The festivities at the Wildwoods Convention Center kick off at 6 p.m. with the opening of the Holiday Shopping Bazaar. The tree lighting ceremony will take place in front of the Convention Center at 7:15 p.m. with the Jaycees Christmas Parade Awards immediately following inside the Convention Center.

The Clayton Volunteer Fire Company's 16th Annual Christmas Parade will be held on Saturday, December 12th beginning at 6 PM. The parade will travel through local streets, ending at Borough Hall for the Tree Lighting Ceremony (approximately 7:30 PM). Cookies and hot chocolate will be provided.

Due to the forecast of inclement weather and rainy conditions in Wilmington, the Holiday Tree Lighting Ceremony, scheduled to place in Rodney Square, has been CANCELLED for Tuesday, Dec. 1.

In lieu of the traditional ceremony, the lights on the City's holiday tree will turn on automatically at approximately 5:30 p.m.
