2013 IN REVIEW: A New Bishop For Camden, NJ
By Mark Abrams
BLACKWOOD, N.J. (CBS) -- In February of this year, a new leader took the reins in the Diocese of Camden. Bishop Dennis Sullivan was installed during a mass in St. Agnes Church in Blackwood.
Sullivan, 67, was the former vicar-general in the New York archdiocese. He accepted the staff, or crozier, and the blessing of his predecessor, now bishop-emeritus, Joseph Gallante.
"My prayer is that as your eighth bishop, my ministry among you will be an instrument of the grace of Jesus Christ, every day that I am privileged to serve you," Sullivan said.
His former boss, Cardinal Timothy Dolan, archbishop of New York, says Camden received a great gift:
"When we give away, in love, what is best within us... Jesus did that on the cross, we in the Archdiocese of New York have just done that. All right... (applause)"
