2 Weapons, Stash Of Heroin Worth $5,200 Found Inside Delaware Man's Car
NEWARK, Del. (CBS) – A Delaware man is under arrest after police found a number of weapons and a stash of heroin worth more than $5,000 in his vehicle.
Samuel L. Cocke, a 28-year-old from Newark, was arrested after State Police officers patrolling the Days Inn Hotel on Churchmanns Road in Newark smelled marijuana coming from his room.
When police entered the room, they found four people inside and evidence of drug use. A computer check discovered that Cocke was a probationer, and a search of the room was conducted. That search led to the discovery of a bag of heroin in a dresser drawer, and a subsequent search of Cocke's vehicle yielded 520 bags of the drug, totaling more than 10 grams and worth about $5,200.
Police also discovered a .38 caliber six shot revolver and a .22 caliber five shot revolver with an obliterated serial number.
Cocke was arrested and committed to Howard R. Young Correctional Institution on $69,000 bail. He is now facing drug and weapons charges.
The other three occupants of the hotel room were not charged.
