PHILADELPHIA (CBS) -- An armored car guard is in critical condition after being shot in the head following a shoot-out outside of a North Philadelphia grocery store Thursday night.
Philadelphia Police say one or more suspects were firing gun shots and chasing a 17-year-old boy near 9th and Clearfield Streets just before 8pm. When the teenage victim was shot, he ran inside of a nearby grocery store for cover.
"The armored car guard happened to be in the grocery store when the 17 year old male got shot outside and then ran inside."
Chief Inspector Scott Small says two armoured car guards were re-stocking the store's ATM, when the suspects began shooting inside of the grocery store.
"He pulled his weapon and fired out into the street at the suspects who shot him and who shot the 17 year old."
Police say the suspects shot the teen shot four times- three times in the torso and once in the arm. Police say they will review surveillance video with the hope of identifying the shooters.
