2 Suspects Arrested In Connection To Robberies In Newark
NEWARK, Del. (CBS) – Two suspects were arrested after a concerned citizen called the police while watching them rob vacant homes.
Authorities say they were called at about 1:52 a.m. on Tuesday morning about two male suspects removing large objects from multiple vacant homes located in the 700 block of Jacobson Circle in Newark, Delaware.
Police report that the large objects, which were pieces of air conditioning (metal) duct work, were put into a dark colored pick-up truck occupied by a female driver.
The two male suspects fled the scene as police arrived. One male suspect, Scott Shirk, 34, of Swanwyck Estates in New Castle, was caught as he tried to hide under a construction trailer. The female driver, Taylor Honey, 23, of Stonebridge Townhouses in New Castle, was also arrested. A third male suspect, Christopher Shirk, 36, also of Swanwyck Estates, was not found.
Scott Shirk has been charged with five counts of burglary in the third degree, five counts of conspiracy in the second degree, five counts of theft, five counts of conspiracy in the third degree, and resisting arrest. He was detained at Howard Young Correctional Institute.
Taylor Honey has been charged with five counts of burglary in the third degree, five counts of conspiracy in the second degree, five counts of theft, and five counts of conspiracy in the third degree. She was released after posting bail.
