2 Separate Reports Rank Happiness In Philadelphia And United States
PHILADELPHIA (CBS) – According to two separate reports, Philadelphia is the third happiest metro in the country, and the United States is the 17th happiest country in the world.
In a poll from Harris Interactive, 34% of Philadelphians are "very happy" and were among the most likely to say that their generally happy with their lives at this point (86%). Atlanta tied with Philly in that roundup, and only those in Dallas/Fort Worth, TX and Houston, TX came out happier, with 38% and 36% of respondents characterizing themselves as "very happy."
In a list of happiest countries, the United States ranked 17th for happiness, just ahead of Ireland and behind Mexico. Denmark was the happiest nation and Norway and Switzerland came in second and third respectively. That study, out of the United Nations' Sustainable Development Solutions Network, looked at six key components including life expectancy, freedom to make choices and freedom from corruption.
As for the unhappiest country in the world? That would be Togo, which scored just 2.936 on the 0-10 happiness range.
