PHILADELPHIA (CBS) -- Two Camden, NJ men have been indicted for robbing and beating three people near Independence Hall last summer.
The attacks happened on federal property near the Second Bank of the United States, at Fourth and Chestnut Streets.
An indictment alleges that 46-year-old Santos Centeno and his 25-year-old nephew, Baldwin Centeno, drove to Philadelphia for the purpose of robbing people.
"It is alleged that in two separate instances in the span of a week, on June 16th and a couple days later on June 20th, that the Centenos attacked, beat up, asasulted, and robbed passersby," says assistant US attorney Denise Wolf.
In the first case, a 35-year-old man suffered serious head injuries. In the second, a couple walking from the restaurant Buddakan fought off their attackers but lost a wallet and a cell phone.
Santos Centeno is being held in federal custody, Baldwin Centeno was being released on bail. The Centenos each face up to 41 years in prison if convicted.
