2 Local Favorites Make List Of Top Milkshake Places In Country

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) - This hot weather has us all screaming for ice cream! Two local favorites have made The Daily Meal's top 17 milkshake places in the country.
Franklin Fountain, on Market Street in Old City, took the number one spot on the list.
"I was really proud that we were recognized nationwide!" said Manager and Soda Jerk Taylor Haynos. He explains, "A soda jerk is anyone who works in a soda fountain, makes fresh sodas, scoops ice cream."
His coworker Michele Barrett was thrilled and says, although it's been busy, the weather actually helps her out at work.
"It mixes a little bit faster!" she says.
Also on the list was Bassett's and Roger Bassett is thrilled!
"Delighted! Should have been first!" he says, but he's not demanding a recount though.
Bassett says the most popular milkshake they are known for is, "Take a guess! Vanilla! It's what we are famous for and it goes with everything!"
They are also know for their the Peanut Butter Dream which is made up of peanut butter swirl ice cream, peanut butter cups and topped with whipped cream, chocolate and peanut butter sauce.
