Deadly Camden House Fire Investigated As Arson
CAMDEN, N.J. (CBS) – A deadly fire in Camden County early Friday morning is being investigated as an arson, fire officials said.
The fire started at about 5:30 a.m. inside a row home in the 1000 block of Thurman Street in the city of Camden.
When firefighters arrived, they encountered heavy smoke and flames that engulfed two homes.
Firefighters were able to place the fire under control in about an hour, but once they were able to get inside the home, they found two bodies.
Fire officials say a woman was injured after she jumped from a window to safety. She was taken to Cooper University Hospital in an unknown condition.
Authorities say the fire is being investigated as a double homicide. The names of the victims were not immediately released.
The fire remains under investigation.
