NORRISTOWN, Pa. (CBS) – Officials say a two-alarm fire broke out at a rowhome in Norristown, Montgomery County Saturday afternoon and spread to seven total homes.

The fire started just after 2:30 p.m. on the 200 block of East Minor Street.

"The fire extended on either side, pretty much to the whole row," Deputy Public Safety Director John Corcoran explains.

Authorities say a 17-year-old had to jump from the third floor of one of the homes. He was taken to the Children's Hospital of Philadelphia. Another person was also injured. Their conditions are unknown at this time.

Fire crews said the cold weather presented a challenge, as they had to battle the ice to put out the fire. Hypothermia is a major concern for the firefighters and for those left without a home.

The Red Cross says multiple families, 19 people total, were displaced. All of the homes involved were either destroyed or damaged.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.
