2 Indicted For Allegedly Stealing Over $2M From Homes In Burlington, Camden Counties
MOUNT HOLLY, N.J. (CBS) – Officials have announced that two Medford Township men have been indicted for stealing more than $2 million in goods from 25 different burglaries.
According to officials, the Burlington County Grand Jury indicted 54-year-old Darius H. Gitten and 48-year-old Geoffrey V. Petit for 25 burglaries of upscale homes that were allegedly committed between October of 2011 and August of 2012 in Burlington County and Camden County.
Officials say Gitten and Petit stole over $2 million dollars in furs, jewelry, watches, crystal, coins, handbags, silverware, firearms, camera equipment and other electronics.
Allegedly the phone and alarm wires of the targeted homes were cut at and a rear sliding door was often smashed to gain entry into the residence while the occupants were away.
Prosecutors say over 500 stolen items, which were buried in a defendant's yard and hidden in an abandoned Philadelphia building, were recovered.
Gitten was indicted on with 22 counts of burglary, 24 counts of criminal mischief and related accusations and Petit was indicted on nine counts of burglary, 24 counts of criminal mischief and related accusations.
