2 Hurt In Crash After Pursuit In Delaware
LEWES, Del. (AP) — Delaware State Police are investigating a crash that hurt two people after a pursuit in Lewes.
Police say a trooper spotted a Volkswagen Passat driving erratically on Route 1 early Sunday, but when he turned on his lights and siren, the driver refused to stop.
With troopers in pursuit, the car continued to drive through Lewes and police say it was hit by an SUV when the driver of the Passat ran a stop sign.
The driver of the Passat, 34-year-old Leonard Eley of Lewes, was taken to an area hospital in serious condition. A passenger in the SUV was taken to an area hospital with injuries that did not appear to be life threatening.
Police say charges are expected and alcohol may be a factor in the crash.
