2 Dead In Kelly Drive Crash
PHILADELPHIA (CBS) -- A two vehicle crash on Kelly Drive has left two people dead and a third woman fighting for her life.
The accident happened at about 3 p.m. along a stretch of the road between Strawberry Mansion Drive and Fountain Green Drive.
Authorities say the female driver of a Volkswagen Jetta was "speeding" in the northbound lane and lost control of the vehicle. Police say the woman "over-corrected" and swerved into the southbound lane striking a mini-van head on. Both the driver of the Jetta and her young passenger were killed. The female driver of the minivan suffered life-threatening injuries and is hospitalized in critical condition.
No names are being released pending notification of next of kin.
Kelly Drive has been reopened after a lengthy closure in both directions while police Accident Investigation Division investigated the cause of the deadly wreck.
