2 Corrections Officers Killed In South New Jersey Crash

CARNEYS POINT, N.J. (AP) — Two corrections officers were killed when their motorcycles collided with a car in southern New Jersey.

Another motorcyclist and the car's driver were also injured in the crash, which occurred around 7:50 p.m. Saturday on Route 40 in Carneys Point, but their injuries are not believed to be life-threatening.

The cause of the accident remained under investigation Sunday.

Forty-two-year-old Derrick Sultan of Bridgeton and 31-year-old George Jackson II of Pittsgrove Township were both pronounced dead at the scene. Both worked at South Woods State Prison.

Authorities tell The South Jersey Times (http://bit.ly/11GWLfv) that the two were riding westbound with three other motorcyclists when a car driven by 21-year-old Jehu Santiago of Penns Grove tried to cross the highway. Authorities say Santiago was driving without a license.
