2 Children Killed In Hit And Run Crash In Wilmington

WILMINGTON, Del. (AP) -- A car crash in Wilmington has left two children dead.

Wilmington police were called to the scene at Fourth and Lincoln streets just after 10 p.m. Wednesday. Nearby residents had lifted a white Mitsubishi and found a child wedged behind a back tire.

A woman and two children from the Mitsubishi were rushed to a hospital, as well as a driver from a Hyundai. A 4-year-old girl was pronounced dead about 11 p.m.; her 6-year-old brother died Thursday morning.

The children's 25-year-old mother was in serious but stable condition at a local hospital. Police say the driver of the Hyundai fled the scene on foot, but was apprehended a few blocks away.

Police are investigating what caused the crash; no charges have been filed.
