2 Charged Months After Murder In Chester
CHESTER, Pa. (CBS) - Two Chester men have been charged in the murder of a 20-year-old man last June -- a slaying that led in part to a month-long state of emergency in the Delaware County town.
John Cooper, 20, and Myron Minor, 19 -- known on the street as "Bump" and "Howard," respectively -- were already in custody on unrelated charges when Delaware County authorities charged them with the shooting death of 20-year-old Jabree Hughes on Patterson Street near Penn.
District Attorney Mike Green says it took 10 months for five unidentified witnesses to come forward, one of whom told police how the shooting went down.
"As each of these defendants was shooting, the witness heard the two shouting at Hughes, quote, 'You p***y, you know we told you we were going to get you,' " said DA Green.
Cooper was wounded that night and is seen on video entering the emergency room at Crozer-Chester Medical Center.
Green won't discuss a motive but says a few neighbors stepped up that night, leading to the more reluctant witnesses who, in time, fingered the two suspects.
