2 Arrested After Conestoga High Students Get Sick From Eating Pot-Laced Food
TREDYFFRIN TOWNSHIP, Pa. (CBS) – Two suspects have been arrested after several students at a Chester County high school became ill after eating marijuana-laced food.
According to police, the investigation began when police were called to Conestoga High School last Thursday for students sickened from consuming marijuana-laced food.
An investigation revealed that 19-year-old Justin Mendenhall allegedly sold the marijuana to a Conestoga High student, who, in turn, had produced the drug-laced food. Police say Mendenhall sold marijuana to students several times in the past.
Police were able to obtain Mendenhall's phone number and set up an undercover meeting with him on Friday evening at the Daylesford Train Station. At the undercover meeting, police say Mendenhall was accompanied by 20-year-old Katelyn Anne Jennings. Investigators say officers saw a bag of marijuana in plain view of both Mendenhall and Jennings. Both were arrested.
Mendenhall and Jennings have been charged with Possession with Intent to Deliver a Controlled Substance (Felony), Possession of a Controlled or Counterfeit Substance (Misdemeanor), Criminal Conspiracy (Felony), Possession of Drug Paraphernalia and Criminal Use of a Communications Facility (Felony).
Mendenhall posted bail and Jennings was released pending her preliminary hearing.
A preliminary hearing is scheduled for both on May 23rd.
