2 Arrested After Burglary Of Closed Restaurant In Delaware
WILMINGTON, Del. (CBS) - Police in Delaware arrested two suspects who are accused of attempting to steal copper piping from a closed restaurant.
The incident happened at about 6 p.m. Thursday at the Steak and Ale Restaurant located on Kirkwood Highway in Wilmington. The restaurant is no longer in business.
According to investigators, police received a 911 call about a possible burglary in progress at the restaurant.
Delaware State Troopers arrived at the restaurant and found the first suspect, identified as 26-year-old Gerald F. Schorah, sitting inside a car, which was parked behind the closed Gulf Station adjacent to the Steak and Ale Restaurant.
Schorah was waiting in the car for the second suspect, identified as Jesse Streb, 37. Streb was found hiding in a dumpster in the rear of the restaurant.
An investigation revealed that Streb entered the abandoned building and removed copper piping from a water heater inside in order to sell it as scrap metal.
Both Streb and Schorah were arrested and charged with Burglary 3rd Degree, Attempted Theft, Conspiracy 2nd Degree and Possession of Burglary Tools.
They were arraigned and released on $4,500 unsecured bail each.
