19-Year-Old Slain In Chester's 1st Homicide
CHESTER, Pa. (AP) — Authorities say a man shot in the head early Tuesday in Chester has died of his injuries, the first homicide of the year in the suburban Philadelphia city.
Police called to a bar just after midnight Tuesday found 19-year-old Omar Draughn shot in the head nearby.
He was taken to Crozer-Chester Medical center, where he was pronounced dead Tuesday afternoon.
His death came only hours before police were scheduled to hold a prayer vigil in response to the violence that has plagued the Delaware County city.
More than 20 people have been killed in each of the last three years in Chester, which had a population under 34,000 in the 2010 census.
