Temple University Unveils Spiffy Housing For International Students
PHILADELPHIA (CBS) - Temple University has a new apartment complex especially designed for students from around the world.
The four-story, $20-million complex in the 1500 block of Cecil B. Moore Avenue was built on what had been a vacant site and an eyesore for years.
Ken Scott, president and CEO of Beech Companies, says the new Beech International complex is designed to house 200 international students and scholars.
"We know students are traveling from around the world to come here, so we've kind of included almost a hotel feel, where they don't have to bring anything but their clothes," Scott said today. "(Each room) is already furnished, it has a large flat-screen TV that can be hooked into wirelessly so they can hook up their computers, it has wireless Internet service, and all the utilities are included in the package."
The project also created 50 permanent positions along with 200 construction jobs.
