14-Year-Old Allegedly Abducted, Sexually Assaulted In Kensington

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) -- Philadelphia Police are searching for two men involved in the alleged abduction and sexual assault of a young girl in the Kensington section.

The investigation was slow to get underway because police say the 14-year-old girl didn't tell her parents right away.

Police only found out about the alleged attack several days later.

The 14-year-old victim tells police she was heading to a playground when she was confronted by two men right near her home.

Police report the girl claims near Gaul and Letterly Streets, one man got out of the car and pulled her in.

"One male literally holds her in the back seat of the car while the other one drives. They take her to the area of Richmond and Lehigh," said Philadelphia Police Captain John Darby.

Up a dirt ramp near some train tracks underneath I-95, the teenager says she was sexually assaulted by the suspect.

Police say, the accomplice stayed in the car and waited for the suspect to get back in before they drove away.

The girl helped police develop a composite sketch of the suspect.

The alleged abduction happened Monday July 11th at around 7:30 p.m. when the victim says she was pulled off the street in a residential neighborhood.

"Usually everyone is out around here. You always see people out. Supposedly it was around 7:00 at night usually all the neighbors are out. I mean somebody," said neighbor Nicole Orr.

At first, Police say the girl was hesitant to talk about what happened.

"It's not uncommon in a young victim who is traumatized and disturbed… [She] did not disclose it to her parents," Capt. Darby said.

The suspect is described as a black male about 20 years old, he's about 5 foot 9 with a thin build.

The suspects were last seen driving around in a black sedan with red doors.
