14 Displaced After Delaware County House Fire

UPLAND, Pa. (CBS) -- Fourteen people and 21 cats are displaced following an early morning house fire in Delaware County.
The fire started at about 4:30 a.m. inside a three-story twin home in the 800 block of Upland Avenue in Upland.
According to the fire chief, the fire was caused by an electric heater in a second floor bedroom.
When firefighters arrived, they encountered heavy smoke and flames billowing from the upper floors of the home. Fire officials say high winds helped to fuel the flames and provided a challenge for firefighters.
It took firefighters approximately an hour to bring the fire fully under control.
Fourteen people – 11 adults and three children – were able to safely escape the fire. However, the fire chief said both sides of the home are uninhabitable.
The Red Cross is assisting those who were displaced.
The Red Paw Relief team was also at the scene providing care for 18 cats that were inside the home.
