$10K Reward Offered In Theft Of 8,000 Carat Ruby From Delaware Jeweler
WILMINGTON, Del. (CBS) – A new reward has been offered in the theft of an 8,000 carat ruby from a jewelry store in Delaware last year.
The owner of the Stuart Kingston Galleries in Wilmington has newly offered a reward of $10,000 for any information leading authorities to the arrest and conviction of those responsible for a robbery which occurred at the store on November 1, 2011.
Armed with a handgun and hammers, four suspects entered the business and tied up several employees. They smashed numerous display cases and made off with a large volume of high end jewelry and diamonds.
Most notably, a rare 8,000 carat ruby shaped like the Liberty Bell was stolen. The value of the ruby is over $2 million dollars.
The robbers fled in a U-Haul van and were last seen on I-95 north toward Pennsylvania. It is possible the suspects are from, or have connections to, the Philadelphia area.
