$10,000 Reward Offered In Kidnap-Rape Of Feltonville Nine-Year-Old

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) -- The City of Philadelphia and the union representing its police officers have now posted rewards totaling $10,000 in the case of a young girl kidnapped from her Feltonville home and sexually assaulted last week (see previous story).
Capt. John Darby of the police department's Special Victims Unit calls it a "nightmare" for the young victim and her family.
He says the unidentified attacker stripped before entering the home near "D" and Wyoming at 4:30 a.m. last Wednesday, grabbed the girl from a bed where other children were also sleeping, and fled.
According to Darby, the parents, in another bedroom nearby, heard screaming -- but instantly their daughter and the attacker were gone.
She wandered home nearly two hours later, partially clothed.
Darby says an aggressive investigation is now underway, and they have DNA that could eventually be used to help convict the attacker.
"We try to appeal to the public every way we can, and that includes putting money on the head of this particular perpetrator," Darby told reporters today.
Adding to the urgency, authorities fear the attacker could strike again.
Five thousand dollars posted by the city will be paid on arrest and conviction. The $5,000 reward money from the FOP is paid upon arrest. The city's tipline is 215-686-TIPS.
