$10,000 Reward Offered For Information About 20-Year-Old Cold Case
PHILADELPHIA (CBS)—On Friday morning Montgomery County District Attorney Risa Vertri Ferman announced a $10,000 reward is being offered for information that leads to the arrest of the person responsible for the death of Julie Barnyock.
Julie Barnyock's body was found on December 2, 1993 in the SEPTA/CONRAIL freight yard.
Ferman says Barnyock was last seen at the train station "talking with a White male between 20 and 30 years old. "
Barnyock arrived in Lansdale from Philadelphia by the SEPTA train at approximately 11:40 p.m. on November 8, 1993. She contacted her dad for a ride from Lansdale, but she was nowhere to be found upon his arrival. She was considered missing for a month.
Phil Smith, a resident of Lansdale, says he still remembers hearing about Julie's murder, "Everybody was talking about it. There were posters all over the place asking if you had seen anything suspicious that night at the train station."
Despite many leads and hundreds of hours of investigating, Barnyock's murder is still considered a cold case.
District Attorney Ferman says, "I hope this new reward and some conscience will compel someone to share information with law enforcement."
She adds that she hopes using new technology that was not available 20 years ago will bring out new information on the case.
The $10,000 reward is being offered on the 20-year anniversary of her disappearance.
