10 Arrested, 140 Pounds Marijuana Seized In 'Weed Whacker' Operation
TOMS RIVER, N.J. (CBS) – The Ocean County prosecutor announced the arrest of 10 people and seizure of over 100 pounds of marijuana.
According to officials, police executed search warrants at businesses and homes located in Ocean County, Monmouth County and Middlesex County between April 23rd and May 14th as part of "Operation Weed Whacker," a mulit-jurisdictional investigation.
The Prosecutor's Office says police seized about 140 pounds of marijuana, approximately $500,000 in suspected drug money, a Makarov .380 caliber handgun, drug paraphernalia, electronic scales, packaging/distribution materials and four vehicles believed to be used while distributing drugs.
Twenty-three-year-old Ahmad Ahmed, 24-year-old Jason Smith, 24-year-old Samantha Stinson, 41-year-old James Lowther, 40-year-old Gordon Malkowski, 34-year-old Justin Nungesser, 30-year-old Catherine M. Sandoval, 30-year-old Joseph T. Irons II and 28-year-old Michael Merwin were arrested and charged with related drug offenses.
