1 Sought In Salem County Home Invasion, Assault

MANNINGTON TWP., N.J. (CBS) – Police in Salem County are asking for the public's assistance in identifying the suspect wanted for a home invasion.

The incident occurred at about 10:30 p.m. Saturday, June 29 in Mannington Township, New Jersey.

According to police, a 24-year-old woman said after she heard her front door open slowly, she saw a man standing in her foyer.

The victim tells police that the man then threw her down onto a glass table that shattered.

Authorities say the victim was able to fight off the suspect, who fled south on State Highway 45 towards Salem City.

The suspect has been described as a 5-foot-10, dark skinned, black male with a thin build, brown eyes and a flat nose. He is in his mid-to-late 20's and was wearing a black t-shirt and baggy light blue jeans. Police say he has a small mark on the right side of his neck that could be a birth mark or scar.
