By Kim Glovas
CHELTENHAM, Pa. (CBS) - Police in Cheltenham Township are investigating a shooting and robbery outside a bank, this morning.
It happened just after 11:30 at the Woori America Bank in the 7400 block of N. Front St. Three men pulled up to the entrance of the bank in the Melrose Shopping Center, across the street from Philadelphia's city limits and tried to pull the victim into their dark-colored Volvo.
Cheltenham Township Deputy Police Chief Kevin O'Brian says, when the man resisted, he was shot three or four times.
The businessman was taken to Einstein Hospital. Deputy Chief O'Brian says that the victim is in stable condition.
Police believe the victim was making a weekly deposit from his shop at 52nd and Market St. and was carrying cash in a satchel or a brief case, which the shooter and two other men grabbed, then took off.
It's unclear how much money was inside the briefcase.
Police expect they will get some good views of the crime from surveillance video, since the victim was confronted six to eight feet from the front door. Anyone with information can call Cheltenham Township Police's anonymous tip line at 215-885-1600 ext. 777.
