MORRISVILLE, Pa. (CBS) – Police say a 65-year-old man is dead following a fire that swept through a trailer home in Falls Township, Bucks County Sunday night.
The fire at the residence in Morrisville on the 6200 block of Foster Drive began around 8 p.m. Emergency responders arrived to find the man was trapped inside of a bedroom in the back of a double-wide trailer. It is believed he may have been sleeping when the fire broke out.
According to police, the first responding police officer tried to get into the home to get to the man but was unable to.
Police say the mans two daughters and the daughters' eight children, who also live in the trailer with him, got out. One of them suffered minor injuries after being burned while escaping and was transported to the hospital.
The fire was placed under control around 8:30 p.m.
The Red Cross is now assisting the displaced family members. The victim's name is not being released at this time.
The fire marshal says the floor of the trailer is unstable and the roof is collapsing so it's hard right now for investigators to get in and determine exactly where the fire started and what caused it. It's possible the fire could have been sparked by a ruptured gas line.
