1 Dead, 1 Injured In Multi-Vehicle Crash In Camden County
TAVISTOCK, N.J. (CBS) -- One person is dead and another was injured after a multi-vehicle crash along I-295 in Camden County.
The accident happened around 3 a.m. Saturday near exit 31 in Tavistock, New Jersey.
Police say the driver of a Corvette was traveling southbound on I-295, lost control of the car, crashed through a guardrail in the center median and crossed into the northbound lanes, hitting a car head on.
The accident set off a chain reaction, causing a four car crash by drivers who were trying to avoid the wreckage.
"It came from the southbound lane and he must have been flying and he flipped over through median and flipped over into this lane," a witness involved in the crash told CBS 3. "There was a car going this way and he flipped over the end and scraped everything off of it. No one knew what was going on. One of the guys, he had to swerve and looked down and there was a body right there, so he had to swerve, which caused him to hit us. It's sad."
One person died in the initial accident and one person was injured in the four car wreck that followed. That victim was taken to a local hospital in an unknown condition.
The cause of the crash remains under investigation.
