Woman Killed After Hitting Semi On I-70

AURORA, Colo. (CBS4) - Aurora police are investigating a fatal accident that happened on Interstate 70 Monday evening.

Sgt. Christopher Carleton with Aurora police said around 7:25 p.m. officers responded to call of a crash involving a car and a semi truck on eastbound I-70 east of Tower Road.

"Responding police and fire personnel found a gold Pontiac Grand Prix wedged under a semi at that location," Carleton said in a statement.

A woman driving a Pontiac died at the scene.

"Preliminary investigation indicates that the semi may have been experiencing mechanical difficulties while driving in a traffic lane. As a result, it was traveling at a very low speed," Carleton said.

Investigators believe the Pontiac rear-ended the semi.

The driver of the semi is being cooperative with investigators.

Police don't believe alcohol or drugs to be a factor.
