Water Main Break Nearly Repaired, Water Restored

DENVER (CBS4)- Crews finished repairs to a broken water main in southwest Denver on Wednesday evening.

The eight inch pipe broke early Wednesday morning beneath Evans Avenue near Pecos Street.

Water service was expected to be restored by 6 p.m. in the neighborhood.

Repairs to the road were expected to last a while longer but crews hope to have traffic traveling on the road by midnight.

The pipe was originally installed in 1910. Age, erosion and water flow can impact the pipe and contribute to a break.
