2 suspects arrested in string of bicycle thefts in Vail
Vail Police Department says there have been at least a dozen bike thefts reported since July 28. The crimes were happening within areas of Vail Village and Lionshead Village. In all the cases, bikes have been left out in the open and unlocked.
Vail Police Department confirmed on Thursday two suspects in these bike thefts were in custody. One of them turned himself in aling with a stolen mountain bike. He was not named by police.
Police arrested the second suspect, 25-year-old Jesus Eduardo Olan Garcia, a resident of Avon, when they found him attempting to steal another bike.
Police want to remind bicyclists to lock their bikes and sign up for Vail's bike registration program, which will help recover your bike if it is stolen.
