Vail Man Pleads Guilty In Fatal DUI Crash
EAGLE, Colo. (CBS4) - A Vail man faces a possible six years in prison after pleading guilty in a drunk driving crash that killed a man.
According to Thomas Kelly with the Fifth Judicial District Attorney's Office, John Althouse, 34, pleaded guilty on Tuesday to vehicular homicide and driving under the influence in the traffic accident that killed 30-year-old Harold Adcock III.
Adcock was a passenger in a Jeep Wrangler driven by Althouse when it struck a concrete overpass support below Interstate 70 in Vail on Aug. 1, 2014. Adcock got pinned under the Jeep and died at the scene.
The investigation revealed that Althouse was driving with a blood alcohol content of .163.
"Lives were irrevocably affected by this tragic death of a young man," District Attorney Bruce Brown said in a statement. "The defendant's guilty plea might help the healing process but it cannot bring our neighbor back."
Althouse will be sentenced on Oct. 19.
