Trooper Injured In Crash That Also Killed CSP Cadet Improving
BOULDER, Colo. (CBS4) - The Colorado State Patrol trooper involved in a crash over the weekend that left a young State Patrol cadet dead is improving.
Officials say Trooper Clinton Rushing still has a long road to recovery.
Rushing was working an accident on Highway 66 in Longmont Saturday with Cadet Taylor Thyfault, 21. Both were hit by a speeding car involved in police chase that started nearby.
Rushing was trying to put spikes in the road to stop the car being chased when he was hit.
The car also hit cadet Thyfault, of Westminster. He had just warned a tow truck driver to get out of the way when he was struck.
Police arrested Chris Gebers, 27, of Federal Heights. They say he took off from a traffic stop.
Gebers has a record with over 20 run-ins with the law. He claimed his accelerator had been stuck, but Gebers had lost his license and wasn't even supposed to be driving.

Gebers is expected in court Tuesday on tentative charges that include first degree murder, vehicular homicide, reckless driving, driving with a suspended license.
Gebers is being held without bond at the Boulder County Jail.
