Transfers To CU-Boulder Are Down Since '08-'09

BOULDER, Colo. (AP) - The number of transfer students at the University of Colorado-Boulder has fallen 15 percent over the past two years, according to a report prepared university regents.

There were 1,818 transfer students enrolled at CU-Boulder in 2008-2009. Last school year, that was down to 1,548. However 1,420 students transferred to the Colorado Springs campus last school year, marking a 28 percent increase over two years, and the Denver campus netted 2,204 transfer students, a 7.5 percent increase from two years ago.

Admissions director Kevin MacLennan tells the Daily Camera that the drop in transfers in Boulder comes on the heels of an increase in applications.

University officials are trying to boost transfers to Boulder, partly by increasing admissions officers' visits to Colorado community colleges.
