Traffic Stop Leads Officers To Unlicensed Marijuana Shop

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. (AP) - Colorado Springs police say a traffic stop last month led investigators to an unlicensed medical marijuana dispensary.

Police said Tuesday that officers who stopped a vehicle Dec. 28 learned the three juveniles inside had just bought marijuana from an apartment.

Officers who executed a search warrant for the apartment say they found the dispensary, several firearms, marijuana, cocaine, psilocybin mushrooms and prescription pills there. Investigators say they also tracked down another location where the marijuana was grown.

Police say the grow operation and its owners didn't have current Colorado medical marijuana registry certificates.

Twenty-eight-year-olds Peter Mattaroo and Kristine Bauer have been arrested in the case. Police say two more arrests are pending.

Mattaroo and Bauer didn't immediately respond to emails seeking comment Tuesday.
