Tour Bus Vs. Semi Crash Closes I-70 At E-470
ARAPAHOE COUNTY, Colo. (CBS4)- Two tour buses were involved in a crash with a semi in the westbound lanes of Interstate 70 at E-470.
Two tour buses were involved resulting in multiple injuries. The extent of the injuries is not known but initial reports indicate there may be at least a dozen people injured.
There were a total of four vehicles involved in the crash, including the two tour buses and a semi truck.
The crash happened in the westbound lanes of I-70 about 8:30 a.m. Friday. One lane of I-70 reopened at 9:12 a.m. There was no estimate on when the westbound lanes would reopen.
The first tour bus struck the semi, with Crete branding, and then the second bus pulled over but was struck with debris from the impact of the first crash.
The tour buses had members of the band Thompson Square and Twin Shadow. They were scheduled to play at the Bluebird on Friday night. There is no indication whether the bands will continue with the shows as scheduled.
What caused the initial crash of the tour buses and semi is being investigated but there was heavy fog in the area at the time of the crash.
