Teen Killed In Wrong-Way Crash On I-25

WELD COUNTY, Colo. (CBS4)- A teenager was killed in a head-on collision on Interstate 25 early Thanksgiving morning. Investigators believe alcohol is to blame for the wrong-way crash.

Colorado State Patrol said the crash happened just after 3 a.m. Thursday on I-25 near Highway 7. There were two vehicles involved, a Jeep and a Subaru.

Colorado State Patrol spokesman Josh Lewis told CBS4 that the Jeep was traveling southbound in the northbound lanes of I-25 when it struck the Subaru.

The driver of the Jeep, Alex Rodriguez, 25, from Fort Lupton, was rushed to Good Samaritan Hospital in Lafayette with moderate injuries.

The driver of the Subaru, a 16-year-old male from Windsor was rushed to Good Samaritan Hospital with life-threatening injuries.

The passenger in the Subaru, Kyle Nackos, 19, of Severance, was killed in the crash.

Lewis said that everyone was wearing a seat belt and there is suspected use of alcohol by Rodriguez, the driver of the Jeep.
