1 Killed In Tanker Truck Crash On Highway 285 Near Morrison
MORRISON, Colo. (CBS4) - Both directions of Highway 285 near Morrison reopened Thursday night after being closed for hours when a tanker truck rolled over, killing the driver. The crash happened about 2 p.m. Thursday and one northbound lane reopened just after 9 p.m.
One northbound lane remained closed while hazmat crews continued cleanup but traffic was getting through.
Drivers were urged to avoid the area during the closure, crash investigation and cleanup.
During the crash, the cab separated from the tank. The cab was sent down a steep incline and the driver was ejected. The driver did not survive.
What led up to the crash is being investigated.
The Colorado Department of Transportation tweeted that the closure of the northbound lanes of Highway 285 was between Parmalee Gulch Road and Highway 8.
Drivers wanting to take an alternative route around the crash scene were advised to take Highway 73 in Conifer to the Evergreen area. Deer Creek Canyon Road could also be used to get to the Chatfield area.
