Taekwondo Coach Charged In New Sexual Assault
DENVER (CBS4)- A taekwondo and boxing coach has been charged in connection with the sexual assault of a 17-year-old girl. The Denver District Attorney's Office said this is the second case involving similar allegations to be filed against him.
Stepan Zeytunyan has been charged with sexual assault on a child, two counts of sexual assault on a child by a person in a position of trust, sexual assault on a child with a pattern of abuse and six counts of contributing to the delinquency of a minor.
The DA's office said the charges allege that from 2010 until 2013, Zeytunyan, 28, a taekwondo and boxing coach, sexually assaulted the victim who was a former taekwondo student.
Zeytunyan is also facing similar charges in a separate case that was filed last year in which he was charged with two counts of sexual assault, contributing to the delinquency of a minor and sexual assault with a 10-year age difference.
The DA's office said those charges were filed in connection to Zeytunyan hosting a grand opening party for a new gym on Oct. 20, 2014. It was during the party that he allegedly sexually assaulted a 16-year-old victim who was attending the event.
Zeytunyan has been released from custody on a $50,000 bond. He is scheduled to appear in Denver County Court on May 21 for his second advisement on the new charges. He is scheduled to appear in Denver District Court on May 18 for arraignment on the 2014 case.
