Suspects Kevin Bui, Gavin Seymour Appear In Court For 2020 Denver Fire That Killed 5 People
(CBS4) - Two teens accused of setting a house on fire and killing five people in a Denver community were in court Friday. A judge will decide if there is enough evidence for them to head to trial.
In August 2020, a fire at the Green Valley Ranch community in Denver killed couple Djibril and Adja Diol and their 2-year-old daughter, Khadijaand from Senegal. Another woman and her infant daughter were also killed. The fire surged late in the night. Three others had to jump from windows to escape.

Teen suspects Kevin Bui and Gavin Seymour were charged as adults. Another younger teenager has also been charged.
A Denver police detective told the court Bui confessed to the crime and said Bui had previously been robbed while buying a gun near city park. The detective said Bui confessed he thought those who robbed him lived at the address where the fire was set on Truckee Street in the community.
The detective also testified Bui admitted to the arson when interviewed, and Bui had not researched if the people who robbed him were actually living there. They were not. He identified others he said were involved.
Police were able to trace the masks used by the suspects to a party store in Lakewood where they were bought.
