Suspect Arrested In Deadly Adams County Hit & Run

ADAMS COUNTY, Colo. (CBS4) - A man has been arrested in connection with a hit-and-run in Adams County.

Lleyla Sahs, 33, was killed last month. She was walking on Piccadilly Road near 152nd Avenue when she was hit.

John Mayner faces charges of vehicular homicide and driving under the influence. Mayner was the first driver that hit Sahs. He stopped at the scene. Investigators say he had a blood alcohol level above the legal limit.

They believe Sahs was hitchhiking barefoot after her car broke down. That's when she was struck.

"We believe that Miss Sahs was attempting to flag down traffic on Piccadilly Road in attempt to get a ride back to Denver." Heather Cobler with Colorado State Patrol said.

Investigators say Sahs was also hit by a second vehicle that they thought had left the scene. Now police say a witness who stopped was involved in the crash. That driver is not facing any charges.
