Students, Drivers Stranded By Wintry Roads In Colorado
WELLINGTON, Colo. (AP) - Snowy, windy weather in Colorado and Wyoming has stranded dozens of students and drivers.
East of Colorado Springs, El Paso County sheriff's Lt. Jeff Kramer says about 60 Miami-Yoder school district students were stuck at school Tuesday night because of hazardous road conditions, which prompted the closure of Colorado Highway 94 leading to the school. Kramer says students are with school staff.
El Paso County Search and Rescue was helping reach drivers stranded by poor visibility and snow. Ellicott fire officials reported rescuing around 20 drivers.
Interstate 25 was closed at times between Wellington, Colo., and Wyoming because of ice, snow and accidents. Interstate 70 was closed Tuesday night from the Denver suburb of Aurora to the Kansas line. In Wyoming, Interstate 80 was closed between Laramie and Cheyenne.
