COMMERCE CITY, Colo. (CBS4)- Colorado State Patrol is looking for a driver who struck a man and then drove away. It happened at about 5:50 p.m. Friday on the left shoulder of Interstate 76 at 96th Avenue.

State troopers said a black Jeep was pulled over on the shoulder of westbound I-76. The driver of the Jeep was struck by a dark-colored Saturn sedan as he was trying to move a mattress from traffic.

The driver of the sedan left the scene of the crash and was last seen heading westbound on I-76 from E. 88th Ave. Witnesses said before she drove away, the woman stopped, got out of her car and looked at the man she had just hit.

The driver is described as a Hispanic woman with dark hair, used a cane to walk, and was last seen wearing a red oversize shirt with white shorts or skirt.

Anyone with information about the crash is asked to call the Colorado State Patrol, (303) 289-4760.

I-76 was closed for an hour and a half. The crash remains under investigation.

The man is in his early to mid 20s. He was rushed to Denver Health Medical Center with serious injuries.
