Standing Water To Delay Thursday Morning Commute

LITTLETON, Colo. (CBS4)- Commuters traveling US Highway 285 through Littleton can expect some delays with Thursday morning's commute. The left lane of eastbound US 285 between Kipling St. and Estes St. is closed due to temporary drainage problems.

That has resulted in standing water and several potholes. The Colorado Department of Transportation said crews cannot fix the drainage problems until the weather improves. The left lane of eastbound US 285 will remain closed through Thursday morning's rush hour.

Major delays are expected in the morning and could result in backups on Kipling Street. Motorists are urged to seek alternate eastbound routes to avoid delays.

The right lane of eastbound US 285 near Federal Boulevard is also closed because of standing water in the right lane. Crews are pumping out the water and hope to reopen the lane before Thursday's morning commute.

If heavy rain continues through the night, the lane will remain closed.

CDOT said the drainage problems in both locations are temporary due to construction in the area.
