Springs Man Found Guilty Of Daycare Sex Assault

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. (AP) -- A Colorado Springs man accused of sexually assaulting a toddler at his wife's daycare has been found guilty on two counts of sexual assault.

The Colorado Springs Gazette reported 66-year-old William Kutzly could face up to life in prison when he's sentenced in August.

Prosecutors say Kutzly repeatedly assaulted a 3-year-old in 2007 and 2008 at the home where his wife ran a daycare. Human services officials said there are no daycare licensing records for Kutzly or his wife.

The defense argued that Kutzly is a victim of his past.

His public defender said the boy's mother encouraged him to talk about abuse after learning Kutzly was a registered sex offender.

Officials described the toddler as "hyperactive" who has trouble communicating.
