So Goes Tulo, So Go The Rockies

DENVER (CBS4) - Before Troy Tulowitzki left the clubhouse last Sunday he stuffed one of his bats into a long tube sock. It's common practice in the big leagues on how to gift wrap their souvenirs. The sock keeps those bats nice and warm, and nobody's bat was hotter last week and Tulowitzki's - so goes Tulo, so go the Rockies.

After last Sunday's game the Rockies had a league-leading 12-3 record.

"At this big league level, 12-3 is something special. It's the best start in our franchise history and it's cool to be a part of it," Tulowitzki told CBS4's Vic Lombardi.

Even when the Rockies are on the road and are down a run or two, Tulowitzki said they have the feeling they are getting back in the game.

"It's just one of those things; momentum," Tulowitzki said. "We stay in games and late we feel like we're going to come back."

After the first couple of games of the season it seemed as if Tulowitzki was struggling at the plate, but he got out of that funk in a hurry.

"You realize what game you're playing and it's baseball and it's tough. One or two games does not make your season. Several people had come up to me and said, 'You're swinging too hard' … I said, 'Have you watched me play before? I swing hard all the time and I'm going to be fine.'"

After going on the road and dominating the Pittsburgh Pirates and New York Mets, Tulowitzki says he feels like the Rockies have made an impression on the baseball world.

"I think we've done that the past couple of years. To be in the playoffs two years, reach a World Series, and always be in it down the stretch. I think a lot of teams know that we're good and a lot of people are starting to recognize the Rockies have some good, young players and they're going to be around for a long time."
