Shoppers Taking Home Plastic Grocery Baskets From Carbondale City Market
CARBONDALE, Colo. (CBS4) - There's only one grocery store in the town of Carbondale that now has to abide by a ban on plastic shopping bags, and now it's got a problem on its hands.
City Market says hundreds of the small plastic baskets used by shoppers while in the store have vanished. People are taking the baskets home and not returning them.
Kelli McGannon with King Soopers asked the public to not take the baskets because it is considered theft. They really just want their baskets returned.
Because of the new ban shoppers need to bring their own bags or pay the 20 cent paper bag fee.
